 Senior Project Manager, with Fundraising Emphasis


Type: Full time/exempt/work-from-home position, with in-person client and team meetings/events
Wage: $55,000-65,000/year, depending on qualifications; salary to grow in accordance with skills

About the Opportunity

This new position at VISIONALITY will report directly to the CEO, who has previously fulfilled these duties. This position will receive support from our CEO, Operations Manager and Project & Operations Assistant.

This Position Will Execute Tasks in Three Equally Important Areas:


1) Fundraising/Marketing Expertise, including:

  • Subject Matter Expert: draw on your proven track record of success in the world of nonprofit fundraising, development, and marketing/communications in order to solve problems for clients; attract new business and support Project Managers with their work
  • Client Projects: carry a part-time client load, focused on clients with fundraising, development and marketing/communications needs


2) Team & Project Leadership, including:

  • Team Management: manage a team of four VISIONALITY employees (three Project Managers & one Assistant, with plans for additional hires in 2020); conduct regular check-ins, monitor and assign work-loads, problem-solve and provide subject-matter advice as a trusted team leader; advise CEO and Operations Manager on development and implementation of organization-wide policies that will contribute to VISIONALITY’s overall success
  • Client Management: regularly follow up with all clients regarding their VISIONALITY experiences; insure work complies with client contracts; solve problems when they arise; maintain healthy relationships


3)Business Development, including:

  • Sales Funnel: manage the business development process from start to finish, including establishing contacts, meeting in person with prospective clients and occasionally their board of directors, drafting proposals, following up, and signing new business
  • Relationship Building: cultivating strategic relationships and alliances on behalf of both VISIONALITY and clients


Areas Our Project Managers Excel at (the more experience you have in these areas, the better):

  • Strategic planning: thinking creatively about how to solve problems for clients
  • Program implementation: learning and implementing programs on behalf of our nonprofit clients
  • Managing client meetings: calendar invites, drafting agendas and meeting notes, attending meetings, documenting meeting outcomes and to-do items, following up with committee and team members with expectations and deliverables
  • Writing & editing: drafting and proofreading e-newsletters, website content, social media, press releases, grants, sponsorship materials, and more
  • Research: researching, synthesizing, and documenting information
  • Events: planning, working with vendors, supervising registration, creating emails to attendees, managing speakers, overseeing staffing, coordinating volunteers, and more 


Minimum Qualifications
 You are:

  • An accomplished fundraiser, experienced at multiple fundraising strategies (capital campaigns, sponsorship packages, membership models, direct mail, and more); knowledgeable about mission-based fundraising (e.g. the Benevon model); able to apply the most up to date marketing and communication strategies to achieve results for clients
  • An experienced leader with a proven track record for supporting and retaining a team; conducting annual reviews; coaching direct reports to achieve goals, pursue professional development opportunities and work towards long-term career objectives
  • Capable of both the “ground level” and “birds eye” view; you solve problems for clients “in the trenches” and then apply that experience towards standardizing VISIONALITY’s offerings to other clients
  • An expert project manager, with training and experience on how to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and close a project; you can apply your project management expertise towards the standardization of VISIONALITY’s offerings
  • Highly skilled at interfacing with clients, providing the highest level of customer service, resolving complex problems with delicacy and composure, developing and implementing client retention strategies
  • Process oriented; you will use your intuitively process-oriented mind to standardize VISIONALITY’s offerings in order to clarify and grow the VISIONALITY brand
  • Detail-oriented, find pleasure in finding the needle in the haystack; accurate, structured; love lists (especially crossing off tasks!) and spreadsheets
  • An internet-savvy taskmaster who can thrive in a mostly virtual environment; loves working under minimal supervision; and embraces the solitary nature of working from home for a portion of your time
  • Smart, strategic, positive, and passionate about making a difference in our community; you must get satisfaction in solving problems and making things easier for others
  • An excellent and engaging communicator (written and oral); you can tailor your communication style and professional demeanor to earn the confidence of clients, stakeholders, and staff
  • A confident public speaker to groups both small and large; including to high-profile audiences
  • An independent self-starter; you are incredibly resourceful and able to solve problems with little assistance or direction
  • Incredibly flexible; enjoy assessing and handling multiple, constantly changing priorities

The logistics:

  • Education/work experience requirement: high school diploma AND 6+ years relevant experience OR Bachelor’s Degree AND 4+ years relevant experience working with nonprofit and mission-driven organizations
  • Must be able to work from home with own computer and own internet connection
  • Reliable transportation for meetings and events; you must live within a commutable distance to Ventura County and be prepared to attend an average of five to seven in-person commitments each week
  • Tech-savvy, strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (formatting, mail merge, etc.); able to learn new software with ease and enthusiasm
  • Bilingual Spanish skills are strongly desired, though not required
